Besides the beauty of the mosaics, the fact that they are made from single wings of butterflies makes one think of the amount of labor that went into making this church so beautiful.The priest who help build and run the parish had a passion for butterflies and his practices as a Lepidopterist allowed for this breathtaking art to be made.The details of each mosaic are incredible. Each wing was meticulously placed. Over 30,000 butterflies are in the church.
An unusual material! I thought when first saw this that it was glass mosaic. The color combinations are stunning!
